Summary: | Indonesia is a country with high biodiversity, one of them is kalong
kapauk {Pteropus vampyrus). Kalong kapauk is one of the wild animal that is
caiagorized suificient population still available in the wild (CITES, Appendix II),
and according to IUCN as near threatened Kalong kapauk have an unique
behavior whiih eat and sleep hanging to the branch of tree and head position
below the body, this requires a high balance. The cerebellum is the part of the
brain that regulates the body's balance, and it is interesting to study histology of
cerebellum kalong kapauk. The aim of this study to determine the cerebellum
histology kalong kapauk to complete anatomy information of Indonesia wildlife
animal.
This study used five kalong kapauk that from Central Java. Cerebellum
procesed for histological preparations by paraffin blocks, then cut preparation
piece 12pm then performed Cressyl Violet staining. Staining results were
bbserved using a microscope equipped with digital camera and analyzed in a
description using software Adobe Photoshop CS2, Microsoft ffice excel and
Optilab Image Raster.
Kalong kapauk cortex cerebellar are microscopicaly devided in to three
layer, molecular, piriform, and granuler layers. The diamater stelat cell, basket
cell, Purkije cell, small neuron dan golgy cell are respectivelly 4,64 + 0,54 pm
