Summary: | Type 2 diabetes mellitus is often met in society and its prevalence increase
every year. Patient with diabetes mellitus with hypertension complication have
two times risk of cardiovascular disease than hypertension patient without
diabetes. Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension increased every
year, so its morbidity and mortality will increasingly rise. Medication pattern of
type 2 diabetes mellitus patient should be adjusted with hypertension complication
to achieve therapeutic target. Research on evaluation of medication pattern was
conducted to identify medication pattern, appropriateness and suitability of patient
medication as well as therapeutic response from antidiabetic and antihypertension
drug on patient.
It is descriptive non experimental research. Data was taken retrospectively
from 43 medical records of type 2 diabetes mellitus patient with hypertension
complication in inpatient unit of Oku Timur Hospital from January to December
2012. Evaluation of rational drug usage accord to medical standard in OKU Timur
hospital, ADA, PERKENI, JNC, VII, AACE, journal of Magaji and Johnston
(2011) and MIMS (2011).
Antidiabetic insulin (78,73%) and antihypertension ACEI (51,72%) were
most used. Evaluation of antidiabetic usage indicate 100% correct indication,
97,62% correct patient, 100% correct drug and 73,17% correct dosage.
Meanwhile, evaluation of antihypertension drug indicate 100% correct indication,
78,38% correct patient, 97,87 correct drug, and 100% correct dosage. Response to
Antidiabetic therapy indicated blood glucose level decr3ease after therapy 97,56%
and 83,78% patient indicated decrease in hypertension after antihypertension.
