Summary: | A research aims to find out Ivermectin effectivity in calves diarrhea at a farm
group in Sabrangwetan, Wukirsari, Cangkringan, Sleman caused by
gastrointestinal worm infestations. This research using 20 calves, about 1 untill 12
month which are naturally infestated and not treated yet. The samples show a
clinical symptoms of intestinal worms, there are anorexia, thin and soft faeces.
Faeces examination results with Centrifuge metode, Parfitt and Banks also Mc
Master in the laboratory of parasitology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine � Gadjah
Mada University showing there are a hundred or more eggs per gram faeces per
calve (Strongyle, Fasciola sp and Moniezia sp). From 20 samples, there are 9
positively infestated of gastrointestinal worms. There are 3 calves Strongyle
infestated, 3 calves Fasciola sp infestated and 3 calves Moniezia sp infestated.
Then the calves weighted to define the medication measure for each weight. The
Ivermectin dosage 200 mcg/kg weights. After treatment with Ivermectin, next to
do is observing with laboratory check-up to prove existence of eggs in the faeces
every 4 day for 3 times. The data result of laboratory check-up and clinical
symptoms before and after, it�s been tabulated analyzed descriptively and
comparatively. The result can be concluded that Ivermectin is still effective to
eradicate Strongyle, but less effective for Fasciola sp and Moniezia sp.
