Summary: | This graduating paper analyzes Lauren Weisberger�s The Devil Wears Prada.
This chick lit presents the topic about a young career woman, Andrea Sachs who
experiences conflict between her career and personal life. Working as an editor
assistant of a famous fashion magazine, Runway, is not in line with her passion and
personality. Moreover, it brings many problems in Andrea�s life.
The objective of this research is to analyze problems faced by Andrea related
to her career and her relationships with the people she loves. It is also aimed to study
Andrea�s efforts to overcome those problems.
This graduating paper applies objective approach, since it is the most suitable
approach to be used to analyze some influential characters and plot in order to find
out the problems and conflicts which are faced by Andrea. Library research is
employed to support the analysis.
The result of the analysis shows that Andrea faces many problems as the
impact of her tendency to always prioritize her career. Those problems are Andrea�s
internal problems, Andrea�s problem in her love relationship, Andrea�s problem in
her friendship, and Andrea�s problem with her family. A terrible car accident which
almost causing her best friend�s death becomes a turning point when she finally
realizes that her family and closest people are worth to be kept rather than her
demanding job. As the resolution, she chooses to quit from Runway, comes home,
starts a new job which is more suitable with her passion, and reconnects her
relationships with her family, her best friend, and her boyfriend.
