Summary: | Background : Stroke is a cerebrovascular disease that can cause physical
disability and death. Stroke patients who survive may experience recurrent stroke.
The main risk factor for recurrent stroke is hypertension. Good management of
risk factors can reduce the risk of recurrent stroke. Self-efficacy is a major factor
affecting the management of risk factors for recurrent stroke. Self-efficacy can be
increased through an educational program.
Objective : This research was aimed to assess the influence of health education
supportive educative toward self-efficacy stroke patients in the General District
Hospital of Wates, Yogyakarta.
Method: This research used preexperimental, one group pretest-posttest design
without control group. The study was conducted in the General District Hospital
of Wates, Yogyakarta from November 2012 � Februari 2013. Sampling method
used purpossive sampling with 14 stroke patients, the instrument is self-efficay
questionnaire. Data analyses used Wilcoxon test.
Result : The results showed median of pretest 79,00 and posttest 76,00. In
Wilcoxon test result found that there was no difference of self-efficacy before and
after health education supportive educative (p>0.05).
Conclusion : There is not influence of health education toward self-efficacy of
stroke patients in the General District Hospital of Wates, Yogyakarta.
