Summary:The advancement of technology makes the accessibility and utilization of information become more quick and accurate. Based on the Law 11/2008 and Presidential Decree 3/2003, 2003, the Indonesian Governments used the internet to disseminate information for the effectivity and efficiency of public services. Spatial information is part of this shared information. Similar to other information, maps on the government�s site have to be easy to read and interpreted. The following essential map components comprises of are map title, north arrow, scale, legend, projection system, grid, data source and map maker. Currently, there is no information on the availability and quality of the maps on the official website of dsitrict/city government. Therefore, it is necessary to check the availability and evaluate the quality of maps on the local government�s official websites. This research goal aims to survey all official local government websites to check maps availability and evaluate their quality in terms of cartographic aspects and maps readibility. The research approach is using a passive survey method and a combination of visual evaluation and checklist of information material. The visual evaluation is used to know the map type, readability level and visual variables. The checklist of information is used to compare the information of maps with standard of visual information of maps like title, north arrow, scale, projection system, grid, legend, data source and map maker. The result shows that the local government were not maximum in using the internet for spatial information (map) dissemination. There are only several local governments official website that have maps and even fewer who have readable map. 454 districts/cities having an official government�s website, there are 1224 maps contained in a few sites. 50% of them are readable and 43.94% of them are displayed the visual information of maps.
