description Sumatran Elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) is a critically endangered Indonesian species, based on the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). In the wild, direct contact with elephant is very dangerous and difficult, therefore an alternative method for estimating the body size is needed. The aim of this research is to find out the corelation of forelimb foot circumference with elephant body size that consists of body length, body height, chest girth, pelvic width and the distance between angulus scapula caudal and the tuber coxae. This research will provide a rapid, easy, and safe animal data collection in the field. The samples were 28 adult Sumatran Elephant (more than 20 years), five males and 23 females, and six young Sumatran Elephant(less than 20 years), two males and four females, obtained from Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta, Borobudur temple Recreational Park Magelang and Taman Safari Indonesia 2 Prigen Pasuruan. The measurements of forelimb foot circumference and body size (body length, body height, chest girth, pelvic width and the distance of angulus scapula caudal with the tuber coxae) were conducted based on standard method of elephant body measurement by Kanchanapangka et. al (2007) with modified compass and measuring tape. The measurement results were then statistically analyzed to find out the correlation and the regresion of forelimbs foot circumference towards body length, body height, chest girth, pelvic width and the distance of angulus scapula caudal with the tuber coxae. From the statistical analysis we found the correlation of forelimb foot circumference equation with other body size as follow: with body length is y = 1,0422x + 156,35 for adult elephant and y = 2,9158x - 60,245 for young elephants
