Rooftop greening material using moss (Sphagnum sp.) or known as environmental friendly rooftop must have high performance. The aims of this research were to test, prioritize, and optimize the factors that could maintain performance of environmental friendly rooftop. This research simulated performance of environmental friendly rooftop in a confined space. Taguchi method with multiple performance characteristics was used in the experiment. Control factors during green roof simulation were thickness of medium or sponge (A) and density of moss (B). Besides that, noise factors that included on this simulation (on the outer array) were light intensity (C) and rainfall (D). Quality responses that used to analyze the performance were water content, runoff depth, retention depth, retention percentage, time to start of runoff, and photosynthesis analysis. The result showed that its water content, runoff depth, retention depth, and retention percentage were decreased. Time to start of runoff was 45,75 � 88,50 seconds, intercellular CO2 concentration was 86,05 � 508,75 μmol CO2 mol-1, the rate of photosynthesis was 108,08 � 403,00 μmol CO2 m-2s-1, and transpiration rate was 11,85 - 15,18 H2O m-2s-1. Priority scale of factors that could maintain performance of environmental friendly rooftop were B and A. The result of multiple performance characteristics gave a conclusion that factor A (2 cm) and B (0,5 gram/cm2) were the best design to optimize the hydrological and photosynthesis performance.
