Summary: | In periodontitis case, clinician struggles against anaerobic bacterial
infection as well as progressive alveolar destruction. Topical application of drugs
becomes intricate because of periodontal tissue anatomy. It is known from the
previous research that carbonated apatite is a potential candidate for drug
carrier. This aim of this research was to investigate the influence of CHA in
gelatin-CHA to metronidazole loading capacity to further preparing dual function
strip as a scaffold and delivery system.
Gelatin-CHA was prepared in 7 different compositions and notified as
CHA-gelatin film in the next text. Each films was then prepared in 10 mg weight.
On the other hand, metronidazole in 0.1% (b/v) solution was used by dissolving
metronidazole into PBS pH 7,4. The film was immersed into metronidazole
solution for 24 hours in 37oC and taken out after certain periodes. The film
loaded with metronidazole solution was diluted 200 times with PBS. Diluted
solution was measured by UV-vis spectrophotometer in 319 nm. Loading
percentage of each films was analyzed with one-way ANOVA, continued with Post
Hoc LSD.
The result showed that there is effeect of different gelatin-CHA
compositions towards metronidazole loading percentage. Metronidazole loading
percentage increased significantly (p>0.5) parallel with the increased
concentration of CHA in the film. The CHA-6 film was found to have the highest
metronidazole loading percentage. It is concluded that Gelatin-CHA film is
potential for drug vehicle materials. |
