description | One of the scientific missions of Geodesy is determining geoid. Geoid is an equipotential surface of gravity force which defined as undisturbed mean sea level. Local geoid model require three components i.e. short wavelength, medium wavelength, and long wavelength . Short wavelength component is obtained from topographic or terrain data. Medium wavelength component is obtained from terrestrial gravity measurement. Long wavelength is obtained from the global geopotential model. Nowadays there are many global geopotential models published, like the latest gravity satellite, Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE). Some of these GOCEs models has not been evaluated in modelling Indonesian geoid. This study take place to evaluate the effect of using GOCEs global geopotential model toward local geoid model in Jawa island.
Evaluation take place toward five global geopotential model (MGG) from GOCEi i.e. GO-CONS-GCF-DIR-R2, GO-CONS-GCF-SPW-R1, GO-CONS-GCF-SPW-R2, GO-CONS-GCF-TIM-R2, and GO-CONS-GCF-TIM-R3. Local geoid model of Jawa island modelled based on GOCE global geopotential model, terrestrial gravity data, and SRTM30plus data. Generated-geoid model controlled with geometric undulation data from 49 height spots. Geometric undulation defined as control because it is considered as the right undulation value and free from calculation errors.
The results of study show highest accuracy of global geopotential model undulation from GO-CONS-GCF-SPW-R2 is 1,232 meter, while lowest one is GO-CONS-GCF-SPW-R2 for about 1,542 meter. Highest accuracy of local undulation of Jawa island resulted from GO-CONS-GCF-SPW-R1 model for about 0,644 meter, while the lowest one is GO-CONS-GCF-TIM-R model for about 0,703 meter. The study show that SPW model is more accurate than DIR or TIM model. In a series, accuracy of SPW, DIR, and TIM model are 0,644 meter, 0,698 meter, and 0,697 meter. Moreover, study show that maximum degree value of MGG did not contribute in increasing local undulation accuration. |
