| description | The forest existence as a catchment area is able to add the ground water
that appears from the spring. That ground water is used for supporting economic
development, one of them is for agriculture irrigation. Umbul Kapilaller is one of
spring which is special used for irrigation.The society who manage the catchment
area don�t realize yet about how big the benefit of water for irrigation because the
benefit can�t be perceived directly. They still have a narrow thought about the
benefit of the catchment area as a timber production. The method used in this
study is stratified random sampling.
The retrieval respondents of forest managers were divided into four strata.
Strata I is for people who have 0,06-0,30 hectares of their land are, strata II is for
people who have 0,31-0,55 hectares area of their land, strata III for 0,56-0,80
hectares and strata IV is for people who have more than 0,81 hectares land. The
retrieval respondent of farmer of irrigation paddy field and rain fed paddy field
were divided into 4 strata too. Strata I is for 0,6-1,0 hectares, strata II is for 1,1-1,5
hectares, strata III is for 1,6-2,0 hectares and strata IV is for more than 2,1
hectares. The financial value of timber is the discounted value. The water value is
a residual value, that is the difference between the the residual value of farmer
benefit and the cost, except the cost for water itself.
The financial value of timber in strata I is Rp 99.624.004-/ha, strata II is
Rp 154.039.416,-/ha, strata III is Rp 154.767.084,-/ha, and strata IV is Rp
133.079.272,-/ha. While the economic value of water in strata I is Rp
353.174.255,-/ha, strata II is Rp 390.859.845,-/ha, strata III is Rp 403.561.299,-
/ha, and strata IV is Rp 471.127.055,-/ha. The management of catchment area has
high social benefit value and form positive externality, so it can be internalize to
the benefit and cost calculation with insentive giving to the forest managers. |
