description Background: One factor influencing the increased survival of children with cancer is the good collaboration between the health care team � doctors and nurses. Collaboration is a performance standard of professional nurses. Some researches suggest that motivation is irrelevant with performance. However, a written research on collaboration indicates that the above collaboration is influenced by motivation. Objective: This study aims to describe the motivation of nurses, the scale of collaboration practice of nurse in the nurse-physician collaboration, and the relationship between the nurses' motivation and the practice of nurse-physician collaboration. Methods: This research is quantitative and correlational descriptive. The study design is cross sectional. The sampling used the total sampling technique with respondents of 37 nurses stationed in the cancer care in child health installations. The research instruments use work motivation questionnaire � modified by the researcher using Collaborative Practice Scale. Results: Statistical test results showed that in majority the level of working motivation of the nurses is in middle category (91.9%), the majority of the collaborative practices are on collaborating stage (48.6%), and there is a relationship between the variables of independent work motivation and dependent nurse-doctor collaboration, indicated with p = 0.002. The strength of the above relationship is in the middle category, indicated by the value of r = 0.500. Conclusion: There is a relationship between work motivations with the practice of nurse-physician collaboration. The correlation is positive and the correlation strength is intermediate. Several attempts are needed to increase the motivation of nurses to show their optimal performance.
