Summary:Background : Lampung province entered in one of the provinces which have average energy consumption per capita per day below the national average (<2100). Prevalence of food insecurity in Lampung province by 7.4%. Data based on Riskesdas (2010), the nutritional status of adult women in Lampung province experiencing underweight much as 10.7%, 10.8% as overweight, and as many as 13.4% had obesity problems. This happens because, women from food insecure families are often concerned with her husband and her children to get adequate meals, causing the level of energy sufficiency and nutritional status tend to be poorly. Several studies have shown that food security affect some health problems and inadequate food intake that can lead to poor nutritional status of a person. Aim : To know the relation of food security with food intake and nutritional status of the housewife. Method: The type of this study is observational, with cross sectional method. The sample population in this study was a housewife aged 18-50 years at District of South Teluk Betung district, Province Lampung. Data collection was conducted in April-June 2013. The number of respondents in this study were 167 housewives. household food security levels obtained from questionnaires USDA (2000), food intake housewife obtained from the questionnaire Food Recall for 3 x 24 and processed using NutriSurvey program. Result : A total of 39.6% of subjects in the category of food insecure with severe hunger. A total of 69.8% housewives have less food intake (<80%) and 37.9% had nutritional status on overweight category. Chi Square test results revealed that there is a relationship between food security with food intake, p 0.003 (p <0,05). But there is no relationship between food security and nutritional status, p 0.988 (p> 0,05). Conclusion : Household food security related to food intake but does not affect the nutritional status of mothers in the District of South Teluk Betung district, Province Lampung.
