writer choose culture in Yogyakarta andKyotoas the theme because those cities
are sister�s cities have culture variety are like Garebeg Maulud in Yogyakarta and
Gion Matsuri inKyoto. The implementation of those festivalsinvolve society, so
that society in both cities have perception about garebeg maulud and gion matsuri.
In order to write this graduating paper, the writer used questionnaire
method and interview method to find out society�s opinion. Data collecting is also
conducted by doing library researchusing books, websites, and articles. In this
graduating paper, the writer explainsYogyakarta�s society and Kyoto�s society
have positive perception and they desire preservation of both festivals.According
to the society, gunungan and mikoshi imply moral value which is applied in daily
