Summary: | This research is conducted in Srigading Village, Bantul District. The sample of
this research comprises of six sub-Village (dusun) who are still utilizing yard
farming. The objectives of this researach are: (1) identify various yard farming
activities of the peasant-family, (2) identify the products of yard farming, (3)
identify production factors which influence yard farming products, and (4)
identify the contribution of yard farming upon the welfare of familiy in Srigading
Village, Bantul District.
The research utilizes field survey method by using sampling data and analysisng
secondary data. The sampling is determined through purposive sampling by
surveying 30 families. The data are subsequently analyzed by qualitative methods,
using frequency tables, T-test and mixed regression.
The research demonstrates that various family-based yard farming are mostly by
cultivating any kinds of yearly-plants, particularly coconut and rambutan. The
cost of yard farmingis recognized as the most determining factor comparing to
age, education level, cost of yard farming, commodity proces, and family
members. Furthermoe, yard farming activities have also significantly contributed
to the welfare of the family until 3,01 percent. Meanwhile, the contribution the
whole yard farming activities upon peasant families is between 2,500 and 500,000
rupiahs per month. As a whole, yard farming activities contribute to the
improvement of family income for approximately 105.000 rupiahs per month.
