| description | Research had conducted in order to know the comparison of the
effectiveness of Ketoconazole and Griseofulvin on the progress of local dog�s
skin lesions which infected by Microsporum canis.
The Animals used in this research was six local dogs which divided into 2
groups, which consisted of 3 dogs per each group. All dogs were infected with
Microsporum canis. Next, the dog was observed for clinical indication from day 1
to day 14 post-infection. Group I was the group which treated used Griseofulvin
with a dose of 20 mg/kg orally. Group II was treated used Ketoconazole per cutan.
Treatment was given started on day 15 to the day 36. The parameters for lesion
progress was observed macroscopically on the 7th day, the 14 and 21 after
treatment next, scoring was conducted and the scoring results were analyzed by ttest.
The results showed the group which treated with Griseofulvin and
Ketoconazole obtained an equal mean score of lesion progress 3.33 ± 0.577 on
day 7 of therapy and 2.67 ± 0.577 on day 14, meanwhile mean score of lesion
progress on day 21 treatment was different. It was 1.67 ± 0.577 in Griseofulvin
group and 2 ± 0 in Ketoconazole group. Data scoring after analysis with T-test
didn�t showed the significant difference yet (P> .05).
Based on this research, it can be concluded that the treatment with
Griseofulvin is better than the ketoconazole. |
