description One of constraints of tea production in Indonesia is a pest infestation, among others is Empoasca sp. the infestations of Empoasca sp. in Indonesia is a new problem. This study aimed to determine preference of Empoasca sp. on tea of PGL clones, as indicated by the insect population and demage score of shoot leaves as result of the pest attacks. The tea-clones studied were PGL 1, PGL 2, PGL 3, PGL 4, PGL 5, PGL 6, PGL 7, PGL 8, PGL 9, PGL 10, PGL 11, PGL 12, PGL 13, PGL 14, PGL 15, PGL 16. The tea shoot was used for experimental unit. Infestation of Empoasca sp. on tea occured naturally. There were three studies. First, influence of tea clones on natural population of Empoasca sp. Four tea shoot were taken at random for each of 16 clones of PGL. Number of Empoasca sp. was observed and counted in situ. Second, preference of Empoasca sp. on tea clones for ovipositition. Four tea shoots were taken at random for each of 16 clones of PGL. The shoots were then freed from any indivuduals of Empoasca sp., and each shoot was enclosed with transparent plastic-botle for 14 days. Number of Empoasca sp. individuals emerged from each shoot was used as an oviposition indicator. Thrid study on oviposition preference on leaves of shoot. There were six number of leaves of tea shoot, from the bud was called on Peko (P0), then P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5, respectively. Number of Empoasca sp. individuals emerged from each leaf was used as indicator of the oviposition preference. Results showed that Empoasca sp. exhibited significant defference in preference againts tea clones. Average of cumulative population density of Empoasca sp. varied
