| Summary: | Along with the rapid growth of the population, especially the middle class
society in Yogyakarta, the necessity for housing will increase. In fact, there are
100.000 unit backlog of housing in Yogyakarta region. The high prices of the land
are currently changing the trend from landed housing to vertical housing.
However, environmental issues such as the lack of green open space (RTH) may
reduce the quality of life of people in this modern era.
Vertical housing, such as apartments, can be a solution to overcome these
problems. Currently, vertical housing that has been built in Yogyakarta, Sejahtera
Family Hotel & Apartment, has not been able to accommodate the housing needs
in the society. Therefore, it is necessary that the apartments can help reduce the
amount of backlog as well as to improve the quality of life and environment in
Yogyakarta.
Application of ecological and affordable apartment concepts are expected
to be a solution and in accordance with the conditions of the middle class society
in Yogyakarta. Composition of dwelling units, building facilities, and outdoor
layout are important aspects in this regard. The composition and area of each
dwelling is adapted to the needs and affordability of the community. Outdoor
layout consists of landscaping and the selection of vegetation types, especially the
increase of green open space to accommodate the culture of the people who
