Besides this waves problem, another problem that could happen in an intake tunnel is some sediments could come in inside the intake tunnel. These is some problems that could happen and must be handled so the operation of a combined cycle power plant not to be disturbed, in this case is Cilegon Combined Cycle Power Plant (700 MW). settling pond) Then as a solution will be tested a wave absorber pool ( method whose functions is to dampen the wave of sea water and absorb sediments which pass it. A wave absorber pool to be tested in circular shape (circular settling pond) will be placed between the mouth of the intake and the base. 3 dimentional hydraulic model testing use a scale model 1:25. So the dimention of the model can be determined with channel�s width 28 cm, intake�s
height 23 cm, modeled channel�s length 880 cm, depth 12,56 cm in HWL condition, depth 7.44 cm in LWL condition, intake�s flow 9.75 l/s, wave height 8 cm, wave tasting period 1.2 � 1.8 sec, and diameter of the pool 1.6 x 1.6 m. The facility and equipment was provided by Hidraulic Laboratorium of Civil Engineering and Environment study, Faculty of Engineering Gadjah Mada University. 0,412 The result showed that the model M2A give the best performance. Model M2A is an alternative pond model which modified by widened the divider at the end of inlet before the pond, widened and add a divider at the beginning of outlet after the pond. On the side of the pond is filled by some rocks. Base on the test at LWL condition, model M2A gives transmision coefficient KT 0,11 - 0,15 for the wave only condition,and KT 0,18 - 0,37 for the
wave and stream condition. Maximum wave height on the outlet after the pond is 1,1 cm .-Velocity profile in the settling pond on model M2A shows that the dominant stream is occur at the left side of the pond and there was a decrease velocity in the middle of the pond. At the inlet before pond velocity range are 0,597 m/s, meanwhile at the outlet after pond velocity range are 0,381-0,816 m/s. In general model M2A pond only capable to precipitate a sediments more than 0.4 mm in diameter. Meanwhile in the tunnel sediments with D � 0,4 will moved as suspention. Beside that, sediments will stays at the side bottom of the settling pond, not in the middle as expected. The conclution is that the pond model M2A is not effective enough to precipitate sediments. |
