Summary:Early retirement is not, a matter of fact, a new phenomenon in Indonesia. Although it is not a new phenomenon, several people holding positions as organization executives willingly make a decision to take early retirement on their own initiatives. In fact, having executive positions and salaries is not easy. A decision to take early retirement made by organization executives is interesting to study. This study aims to investigate the meaning of early retirement for organization executives and find out the dynamics of the decision making process. This study used the qualitative approach through the phenomenological perspective, by searching and understanding the meaning of early retirementin executive level. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with four organization executives making a decision to take early retirement from the organizations where they used to work. The research findings show that for the organization executives early retirement means a way of facing new challenges for having better opportunity outside the organizations. Another finding also shows that the organization executives take a thinking process before deciding to take early retirement from their positions. The research respondents make a decision to take early retirement by taking account of risks and benefits of the choice before doing so
