description Shear failure is very dangerous because it is brittle and can lead to sudden structural collapse, so it needs to be solved immediately. The aims of the study is to determine shear strength from original column and the column retrofit with normal concrete and resin concrete, increasing of lateral load capacity, stiffness, ductility, drift ratio, and cracks pattern of the column. Polyester resin concrete is used in this study as a repairing and strengthening material of columns that have shear failure. Specimen consists of three pieces column with dimensions of 150 mm x 150 mm, 700 mm high with 8 D 10 longitudinal reinforcement and stirrups � 6-120 mm. The early stages of testing done by giving a constant axial load of 109 KN and cyclic lateral load based on ACI T1-1-01 with boundary longitudinal reinforcement approaching yield and crack width has reached 0.4 mm . After that the column was repaired and reloaded until it colapse. The result is resin concrete which contained 20% of resin better than 10% and 15 %. Lateral load capacity of concrete columns retrofit resin increased 1.23 and 1.27 times the lateral load capacity of normal concrete columns retrofit. Drift ratio of retrofit column is 2.245 %, 2.69 % and 1.963 %, which meets the requirements of ASCE 7-05 � / L � 1.5 %. Rigidity of retrofit column of 20 % resin is 1.044 times of retrofit with normal concrete. Ductility factor of resin concrete retrofit decreased 1.13 and 1.21 times lower of normal concrete retrofit. Crack pattern that occur in the column before and after retrofitting is shear failure. In conclusion, based on acceptance criteria of ACI T1 - 1-01, column can be used in systems with intermediate moment frame bearers R ( response modification factor ) maximum 6 .
