| Summary: | The present study aims to find out the practice of adat marriages among the
community of Banjar tribe in Margasari Hulu and Baulin villages, Candi Laras Selatan
subdistrict, Tapin regency, South Kalimantan province. It intends to determine the
reasons why the community of Banjar tribe does not register their marriage at
subdistrict Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Furthermore, the study attempts to
determine the legal consequences for the spouses or the children abandoned in cases of
divorce.
It employed an empirical legal approach, that way by analyzing various laws
relevant to adat marriages held under the Islamic Law in Margasari Hulu and Baulin
villages, Candi Laras Selatan subdistrict, Tapin regency, South Kalimantan province
