| Summary: | The dynamics of log over forest is affected by harvesting techniques and the
adaptation of vegetation to the conditions after harvesting. There are two
harvesting techniques commonly applied in the silvicultural system of selective
cutting, i.e. conventional logging techniques and Reduced Impact Logging (RIL)
techniques. This research was aimed to determine and to compare the dynamics of
stand structure, species composition and aboveground carbon stocks in the
tropical rain forests that used conventional logging techniques and RIL. This
study used the data from an inventory of over 15 years in the permanent sample
plots (PSP) STREK that built in the tropical rain forest of Berau, East Kalimantan.
There were three treatments in the study plots, i.e. conventional logging
techniques with diameter limit of felled trees > 60 cm |
