Summary: | Various of the coastal area protections have been developed by many
countries through engineering approachment which is growing rapidly. An
impermeable groin is one of the applied beach protection to reduce erosion in
Indonesia. Unfornately, this structure has an disadvantage because there is still
found some erosions in downstream area. It is necessary to do an alternative
research on the effectiveness of permeable groins to reduce the coastal erosion. A
direct research on the beach takes much time and more expensive budget, so we
have a physical prototype model of the permeable groins at the Laboratory of
Hydraulics, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gadjah Mada
University in Yogyakarta. But this has a little problem which the current velocity
on physical test models can only be done at certain points. Furthermore, the
observasing data has been input to the mathematical models using 2D Boussinesq
to determine the longshore current velocity which is reduced by the permeable
groins structure along the coastal.
In this research, the mathematical model has been made with two groins,
permeable and impermeable groins, with the variation is in length and distance
