description Despite a huge number of available studies have been conducted on pharmacology activities of Curcuma longa and xanthorriza rhizomes problems with regards to the uniformity of product quality are still occurred. The quality of natural pharmaceutical products cannot be separated from its standardization, since raw materials, post harvesting process, the form of simplicia while in storage, extraction process, up to analytical methods used for quality control purposes. This research was done to explore the influence of storage form among simplicia (powder, cantlet and slices) towards phytochemical profile by using TLC, FTIR, and GC-MS. As the result, there are some distinctiveness of phytochemical profiles between C.longa and xanthorriza can be used for quality control. The most suitable method to characterized its phytochemical profile (volatile fraction) of C.longa and xanthorriza was by GC-MS method. However the best storage form of C.xanthorriza was in the form of slices form (totus), meanwhile C.longa would better to be stored in the form of powder (pulver) unless the desired active substance are turmerone and curlone.
