Summary: | This research has been carried out using a combination of two factors: fertilizers
(compost of siam weed and conventional fertilizer), water standing levels
(flooded: 5 cm, intermittent, and saturated: (0 cm)). The result shows that in
general rice treated with siam weed compost gave better results than that of
conventional fertilizers. Treatment with compost-saturated irrigation system gives
the best results among all the treatment given, although showing significant
differences only on the variable of plant fresh weight (22.66 ± 4. 50 g), grain
weight (23.45 ± 5.31 g), and percentage of empty grain ( 26.72%). The longest
life span of nymphs was found on compost-saturated treatment (21.33 ± 3.21
days), even though not significantly different with other treatments, it is
significantly different in contrast to conventional fertilizer -flooded treatment
(14.67 ± 0.58 days). The shortest life span of mature stage found on compostsaturated
treatment(9. 33 ± 0.58 days) and the longest one was on the
conventional fertilizer-flooded treatment (14.67 ± 2.08 days). The performances
of plants treated with siam weed compost on different water standing levels
treatment show better results compared to conventional fertilizer.
