Description
Summary:Onin Offshore Area, Seram Trough is one of the targets of oil and gas exploration in Eastern Indonesia. Complex geological structure condition require more detailed study of the geological structure of the area is urgently needed as an effort to increase the success of oil and gas exploration in Eastern Indonesia. This research aims to recognize and identify the development of geological structures based on observation of 10 seismic lines data. The method used in the study is the direct observation of the geological structures pattern in seismic data recorded by considering the tectonic conditions around study area. The results showed that the study area had undergone a process of rifting and inversion. Rifting period lasted from Paleozoic-Early Mesozoic which produces normal faults traces showed with the pattern of ancient grabens. The tectonic process continue with sagging phase until Miocene which produces a thick sequence of deposition. At Miocene-Pliocene the study area experiences period of inversion to produce the topography like now (recent) indicated by thrust system (thin-skinned) in western part and reverse (thick-skinned) in eastern part of study area which origin from the reactivation of normal faults before
