demanding the midwive has more knowledge and skills that can be acquired from
appropriate education and training. To increase the village midwife knowledge
was performed interventions in the form of increasing knowledge (education) by
using an effective and efficient training methods such as lectures method and
small group discussions.
Research Objectives. To measure the village midwives knowledge in the
rational treatment at non Pneumonia ARI. To test and trial the lecture methods
and Small Group Discussion (SGD) method in education to the village midwife
and measures the education impact to the knowledge and skills of the village
midwives.
Research Methods. The research using quasi-experimental method with pre and
post test design with a control. Intervention conducted is training with the lecture
method and SGD and see the effectiveness and efficiency of these two methods.
Results. The village midwife knowledge are acquired from pre test result with
the mean value of 51.11 from maximum value of 100. The village midwives
skill in therapeutics i.e. there are 12 people giving unnecessary treatment
(antibiotic use and polypharmacy) from 18 village midwives. The village
midwife knowledge after intervention is obtained from post test results with
mean value of 90.5 and 90.0 for SGD and Lectures groups. The village midwife
skills after intervention was obtained from therapy given thirty days after
intervention where the village midwives gives unnecessary treatment as many as
five people from 18 people.
Conclusion. Education intervention of SGD and lecture method are effective in
increasing the village midwife knowledge. SGD method was more efficient
method of education than the lecture method. The increase of the village midwife
knowledge can change behavior in providing therapy. |
