description | Background. Ende is an endemic district of malaria with API (Annual Paracite
Incidence) on 2011 is 28,89. Treatment of malaria effectively and timely
needed to increase the morbidity of malaria. So it is important to ensure the
availability of malaria drugs, supported by management support and managed
properly. Problems found in Pharmaceutical Installation of Ende district are
stocks out, over stocks and expired of malaria drugs, indicated the management of
malaria drugs has not been impelemented properly. The aims of this research to
evaluate the management support, process involved on malaria drugs
management, and the availability of malaria drugs.
Methods. Evaluation using analytic description method with case study design.
Data collected by observation forms, cheklist and in depth interviews. Sampling
technique used stratified sampling. Data analized and shown by tables and in
naration
Results. Management Support evaluated: management of malaria drugs has not
followed to one gate policy of drug management through UPTD GFK as a unit of
drug management, maldistribution and untrained pharmacists and physicians,
system information of malaria drugs manually and not timely, drug budget largely
from APBN to supply ACT neeeds and APBD II to supply non ACT needs, there
is no guideline for the management of malaria drugs. Process of management
malaria drugs evaluated: malaria drugs planning didnt use data of malaria cases
but only the consumption of malaria drugs, procurement followed to PP 54 tahun
2010, storage of malaria drugs apartly by source of different funding, a special
distribution when malaria cases increased but depends on access, and inapproriate
prescribing malaria drugs to standard guideline of antilamaria. The availability of
malaria drugs evaluated: over stocks of malaria drugs are 56% on 2011 and 60%
on 2012, there were 3 items of malaria drugs not include in National list of
esensial drugs, malaria drugs received by central government more available than
local government, stock out of malaria drugs since 216 days, malaria drugs
expired variated by 0-44%, the deviation of distribution are 12,5 and 22%,
prescribing of ACT as antimalarial recommended on standard guideline of malaria
variated by 59%-90%
Conclusion. The management support, the process of malaria drugs management
and the availability of malaria drugs have not been impelemented properly. |
