Summary: | Using Portland pozzolana cement (PPC) as additive for filler to lime
mortar can increase the shear strength of the filler at high level. If the shear
strength filler of the grout is higher than the stone itself, the stone has more
probability to be damaged than the filler. That can not be happening, so its
needed to study about the effect of adding PPC to the shear strength of filler for
Siwa Temple.
Direct shear test was conducted in order to identify the shear strength and
the interface strength of the filler with PPC 0,5. There were 8 types of filler
variations, and each type of filler was used to make 4 different specimens. The
first test was direct shear test to identify the shear strength of the fillers, and the
next test was interface test with 3 type of stones temple. The shear strength of
these filler were compared with Rinos study (2013) about filler without PPC, so
the differences can be identified. The shear strength of these fillers were also be
compared with Muktis study (2013) about the intact rock shear strength of the
temple stones, so the conclusion can be given about the filler with PPC
characteristics as temple stone grout.
From the experiment, the shear strength of all fillers without PPC
increased significantly after PPC added. Filler with the highest shear strength is
A1CF with = 58,75 dan c = 1,702 kg/cm
2
. All the filler shear strength are
almost the same in value with the intact rock shear strength of the temple stone
with the only 7
th
day filler strength. The filler shear strength after 30
th
day can be
higher than shear strength of the stones, therefore the fillers can not be applied as
grout of the cracks. So, using fillers with PPC can be harmful to the stones and
this is so far away beyond the purpose of preserving the material of the world
heritage.
