description | Titanium hydrate is the hydrated form of titanium dioxide which is the white
pigment usually used as additive coloring agent for paint industry, ceramic industry,
polymer industry,etc. Development opportunities of titanium hydrate industry in
Indonesia is quite high, considering that currnently there is no manufacturer listed has
been established in Indonesia.
The plant is planned to operate for 330 days / year with titanium hydrate
production capacity of 56,350 tons / year. The main raw material required are
521,536.53 tons / year of ilmenitel and 632,433.02 tons / year of 98% sulphuric acid.
The method used is the sulphate process with iron and water as additive material. In
general, titanium hydrate manufacturing stages process goes as follows: (i) reaction
between ilmenite and 45% sulphuric acid in a continuously-stirred tank reactor, (ii)
crystallization and separation of impurities, (iii) hydrolysis to form titanium hydrate,
(iv) titanium hydrate product purification with drying . As a support, utility plant unit
supplies water as much as 377,536.52 kg / hour, 3,287.94 kW of electricity, compressed
air up to 150 m3/hr, 284,462.91 tons / hour of steam, 33,735.21 kg/hour of refrigerant
and hot air with up to 109,581.00 m3/hour of capacity.
The plant will be established in the city of Muntok, Bangka Belitung province,
with raw material oriented consideration. Industrial area is close to the lead mine from
which ilmenite is the waste of, and close to the harbor making it easier to procure raw
material sulphuric acid 98% from P.T. Pupuk Sriwijawa, Palembang, as well as the
marketing of the product titanium hydrate. Plant location close to the sea, so that the
source of water for utility plant unit derived from seawater.
Calculation of economic evaluation results are fixed capital required equal to
Rp738,065,313,593.74 and working capital equal to Rp 478,330,043,145.17. At 100%
production rate, obtained ROI before tax of 19.24%, ROI after tax of 9.62%, POT
before tax of 2.44 years, POT after tax of 3.92 years, with Lang factor at 4.65, BEP at
46.39%, SDP at 28.92%, and 19.96% for DCFRR. Based on consideration of the
economic evaluation results, this titanium hydrate plant with capacity of 56,350 tons /
year is worth to be studied further. |
