Description
Summary:Roads are used by many parties according to their needs and goals. The number of road users types affects the livability of the road, because the road user's movements indicate a high- or low- livability of the road. Roads having proper livability are roads that enable safe, convenient, and easily accessible route to all users in each space. Livability rate of roads is strongly influenced by safety, comfort, accessibility and connectivity for its users. Furthermore, these variables are observed in each function space to accommodate the users movement. In this research, spaces are divided into pedestrian space, space for cyclists, and a waiting area for public transportation users. The research was conducted on Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jakarta. The purpose was to assess the extent to which the livability had been established in Jalan Gajah Mada and Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jakarta. This research used a quantitative approach with a qualitative deductive sampling technique using accidental sampling. Data collection was gathered through theoretical analysis, field observations, secondary data collection from relevant agencies, and respondents interview. Then, the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. This research concluded that in order to obtain a livable condition of road space, these particular factors--safety, comfort, accessibility and connectivitymust be taken into account. Other findings observed in this research were the diversity of land use and aesthetic sense of place also have influence in making people interested in coming to make a livable road space.
