Summary: | Mapping of the sea, particularly bathymetry mapping is a fundamental necessity in
order to provide spatial information for many activities, such as planning and decision
making related to the information of marine field. Lately, bathymetric mapping can be done
by several methods and technologies. Nowaday, SBES is one of the technology used for
solving problems to the bathymetric mapping for areas such as lakes, reservoirs and river. It
takes high cost, so the alternative for bathymetry mapping, it can be used Fish Finder.
However, Fish Finder is a tool generate depth data with low accuracy compared SBES tool.
Nevertheless it is necessary to compare the measured data bathymetry using both these tools.
The expectation is to provide a representation comparison of the quality of the data produced
by the Fish Finder tool and SBES is significantly different or not. Comparison of data quality
is not just simply to prove that the two devices will provide data that are significantly
different or not, but it should also be a reference to the applicable standardization. In this case
the depth of measurement standardization is used to refer to the IHO SP-44 and ISO 7646-
2010.
The main job of the bathymetric survey in the preparation stage is to design a
measurement scenario, configure SBES and Fish Finder tool with Hydropro Software.
Activity on the stage of implementation is making barcheck calibration, draft transducer
measurement, and recording in accordance to the planned route. Data obtained from this
activities is the depth from SBES and Fish Finder tool whose position is determined by a
GPS. Activities at this stage of the data processing is data measurement management,
reduction depth data Fish Finder tools that are intended to obtain data on the actual depth
after correction barcheck and draft transducer, identifying points of intersecting, and test the
quality and depth of data comparison with a reference to IHO SP 44 in 2008 and ISO
7644:2010. The final stage of this research is to conduct test analysis and comparison of data
quality depth.
Based on the test results depth data quality, Fish Finder tool MAP Sounder GARMIN
178 C can be used as an alternative in the bathymetric survey work in the area either uniform
or varied and meet IHO and ISO standardization. Furthermore, based on the test statistic with
95% confidence level (-1.96 < to <+1.96), it can be said that the depth of the Odom
echosounder data measurements were statistically significantly different from the depth data
measured at Fish Finder transducer positions side by side. This is caused by the presence of
wild blunders or out of data. While the current position opposite transducer, depth data Odom
echosounder measurements did not differ significantly with depth data measured Fish Finder.
