| description | This study describes the factors that influence the success of elephant patrol
team in human � elephant conflict mitigation in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park.
The purpose of this study are : (1) to understand the process of human-elephant
conflict mitigation by an elephant patrol team as well as their internal resources, (2)
to determine the ability of elephant patrol team in addressing human-elephant
conflict, (3) to investigate the perception from user's and beneficiaries of elephant
patrol team program on the results achieved by elephant patrol team.
The study was conducted from February to April 2013 in surrounding of
Pemerihan Resort Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP), a camp for
Elephant Patrol Team (EPT). The method used in this study were observation,
information of elephant conflict movement based on GPS Sat Collar, and semistructured
interviews. Semi-structured interviews conducted with 13 informants
(internal resource of EPT), 5 informants (EPT program user perception) and 20
informants (EPT program beneficiaries perception).
The process of human-elephant conflict mitigation undertaken by EPT BBSNP
are managed optimally to minimize human-elephant conflict that occurred in its
territory , in Pemerihan Resort |
