Description
Summary:Patriarchal cultures and ideology embraced by many traditional communities in Indonesia has led to the development of women still far behind when compared with mens development. Womens underdevelopment would make them prone to be powerlessness. This powerlessness will increasingly make women are in a disadvantage if they have to face and compete with men in all fields. In addition, women who are powerless are also extremely vulnerable to be poor in case of shocks caused by the uncertainty of future social-economic condition (loss of the main breadwinner for example). Therefore the women empowerment should be the primary concern in order to minimize 'unfavorable conditions for women'. Empowerment of women must not only be the responsibility of the state alone, but also the responsibility of the business entity and other civil society. Limited coverage of empowerment program and fund presented by Indonesian government, would make not all women in Indonesia had full benefit of empowerment. Here then the role of business entities in helping government to empower women communities around the operational area through the CSR program. One of the business entities that participate in efforts to empower women is Pertamina TBBM Rewulu company, through traditional herbal home industry development program in Argomulyo village. The main objectives of this program is to empower women (producers and herbalist) who is also a member of the group of Seruni Putih and Jati Husada Mulya (JHM) community. This research aim to determine how the process of empowerment of women in both groups of herbs (Seruni Putih and JHM) led by PT Pertamina TBBM Rewulu reviewed with aspects of planning and implementation program, also the challenges faced by the resulting impact on both groups. This research is based of qualitative research - analytical description. Determination of the informants in this research was done by using purposive and using methods of observation, interviews and documentation in collecting data in the field. In the analyzes, researchers using contextual and interpretive analysis, which consists of three main grooves, namely: classification and verification of data, data interpretation and final conclusion. Results of this study concluded that, in the planning process of women's empowerment, Pertamina TBBM Rewulu company is using social mapping method in order to determine the need and objectives. Implementation of empowerment programs conducted by Community Based Development approach, although it is still not yet fully contextualised within each activity in both groups, due to time constraints of the program. Women's participation in every activity still mobilitatif empowerment, that still does mean that awareness of women's individual related empowerment essence is still low. The main challenge in the empowerment is managerial of empowerment when it involves many parties, the need to achieve independence in both group, managerial conflicts between individuals or groups and empowerment stakeholders commitment to the long-term empowerment. The impact of the empowerment in both group is increased womens knowledge i.e : hygiene production of herbal medicine and maturation in the organization. In addition the empowerment of a herbal medicine business was also been able to increase the economic income for women (producers / herbalist).
