mass media, which owns several elements and symbols in delivering the message.
This happens in Soegija scenario which uses a lot of symbols.
This research aims at revealing those concepts. The application of
semiotic theory, especially the reading system of Roland Barthens� five codes, is
used to find the implied narration, and to see what kind of concept has been used
to deliver the writer�s message.
The first step is made by finding lexia in the scenario, then grouped
them into related lexias. The next is analyze those lexias to find out the Five codes
of Roland Barthes in them. The last is to find out the meaning based on the
relationship and five codes of Roland Barthens.
The result of this research is explained as follows. First, the ideas
of the importance of nationalism which implies the meaning of nationality, the
awareness of membership within one nation which potentially or actually attain,
sustain and keep the identity, integrity, posperity and national power become
ideas which dominates the object of ths research. Secondly, the idea about the
importance of pluralism. In a multi cultural, racial, religion country, pluralism is
importance to be achived. In line with the spirit of Bhineka Tunggal Ika, the
writer wants to remind us about the meaning of the pluralism. Third, the idea of
filling up the indipendence. The service of warriors who fights withous using
weapons can be seen in those two main rominent figures in this research. Soegija
and Mariyem are warriors for reaching the indipendence who did not use
weapons. In this case, the writer wants to remind us about nationalism of young
generation for keep on filling up the indipendence although without
using the weapons.
At last, the reasercher concludes that athough the object of this
research is about the life of a prominent figure of a certain relogion, but the ideas
implied in the Soegija do not talk about a certain religion issue, instead it
describes more over about nationalism, pluralism, and the spiritof filling up the
indipendence. |
