Summary:Diarrhea is a disease with high morbidity and mortality through world and in all age group can be attacked. In developing countries, children suffer from diarrhea more than 12 times a year and it causes mortality 15-34% of all causes. This research was done to identify usage pattern of diarrhea drug on pediatric in Taman Puring Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2012, to identify prescription compliance to formulary, to identity medication comply with the hospital medical standard service and use of zinc to shorten length of stay. It is descriptive non experimental retrospective research. Instrument used was medical record of 1-12 years old children hospitalized in Taman Puring Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2012. Data was collected using simple random sampling. Data obtained was analyzed on management of diarrhea therapy compared with hospital service standard and effect of zinc supplement on diarrhea handling and compliance of drug usage to hospital formulary. The result indicated that of 103 cases, 58.25% male patient and age group with most infected was 1-2 years old (42.72%). Mostly used diarrhea drug is electrolyte (50.95%). Mostly used drug administration route was per oral and the most preparation is syrup. Zink usage indicated shorter length of stay (3.32 days) than that without zinc supplement (3.52 days). Compliance of prescription with hospital formulary is 72.62%.
