Summary: | This research studied about the effect of different colors shade on growth
and productivity of water spinach grown hydroponically and its effect for micro
climate under the shade. The research conducted at PT. Kebun Sayur Segar (Parung
Farm), Bogor district, Province of West Java from October to December 2012. The
research was designed as Randomized Completely Block Designed (RCBD) with
three times repeated as block. Treatment given for plant was to made open shade
that each roof has different colors (colorless, red, blue, and green).
Statistic test result with level of significance 0,05 (using one way Anova)
showing the treatments are not giving significance result on micro climate under
each shade. The greatest crop production is on plants under red shade with rate of
productivity is 566,67 gr/m2. But measure for the plant stem diameter, plant height,
number of plant segment, and number of leaves at harvest are on plants under blue
shade is the greatest. Plants under red shade have greater production than another
shade because plants grown under this shade have many branches.
Recommendation for next research are to adjust the shade elevation to plant height,
then selection of shade material, and better techniques of coloring for the shade.
