Description
Summary:Sureng is one of the village in Gunungkidul which is having water scarcity because of the karst land which is not able to store water. On wet season, settlers make rain water storage to store fresh water. On dry season, water inside the storage is depleting, settlers are forced to purchase fresh water which could cost up to Rp. 110.000,00 for 4.000-5.000 liters of fresh water. Settlers who can not afford to purchase fresh water are forced to lift water manually by walking for 2 kilometers from the settlement. On August 2012, a Solar Water Pumping System was built at Sureng Village. The system lifts water from Sureng River into Telaga Sureng Reservoir using two HR 14-2 pumps operated in parallel. The power source for these pumps is provided by 32 photovoltaic panels configured to reach peak power of 3200 Wp which is stored in 16 batteries. Based on measurements, the maximum flow rate of water is 2,063 m3/hour. Maximum volume of water pumped is 13 m3, providing 26,41% of total fresh water need at Sureng Village. The maximum energy of photovoltaic panels measured is 6.584 Wh. It is 72,72% of estimated energy of photovoltaic panels which is 9.054 Wh. It means that energy of photovoltaic panels measured is close to the estimated energy of photovoltaic panels in one day.
