Antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract of Annona muricata L. fall leaves
have been studied. The aim of this research is to determine antioxidant activity
from ethanolic extract and flavonoid compounds of fall leaves of soursop by
DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl) method with spectrophotometer UV -Vis at
λ 517 nm. Extraction had been done by Soxhlet apparatus using 96% ethanol as a
solvent. Flavonoid compounds separated by Preparative TLC (Thin Layer
Chromatography) method with BAW (buthanol:acetic acid:water) 4:1:5 eluen and
identified using color test and spectrophotometer UV -Vis method.
been performed a one-way ANOVA statistical test to compare the antioxidant
activity of extracts of soursop fall leaves, green leaves, and synthetic antioxidant
BHT. Test showed that antioxidant acitivity of fall leaves extract < green leaves
extract < synthetic antioxidants BHT with an IC50 value were 169.37 ppm (w/v),
141.00 ppm (w/v), and 1.48 ppm (w/v) respectively. This IC50 value less than 200
ppm showed that ethanolic extract of fall leaves had a strong antioxidant activity
although not as strong as synthetic antioxidant BHT. The separation and
identification of flavonoid shown that soursop fall leaves contain flavonoids
compounds like flavones, dihidroflavonol, flavonols, and flavanones. The highest
antioxidant activity of flavonoid compounds was flavonol with 37.73% inhibition
at 19.6 ppm (w/v). One-way ANOVA test showed that the extract of soursop fall
leaves, green leaves, and antioxidant BHT has the same antioxidant activity. This
study shows that the soursop fall leaves can be used as natural antioxidants.
