Estuary Lagoon in Segara Anakan ecosystem. Mangrove forest ecosystems are very
sensitive and prone to disturbance of human activity, the destruction of mangrove
forest ecosystems will not only lead to coastal erosion but also a decrease in
fertility and productivity of fisheries. There are three purpose of this study: (a) to
identify the characteristics of the mangrove forest conversion that occurred during
1998 to 2010, (b) to determine the effect of conversion of mangrove forests to fish
production in Ujung Alang village, and (c) Review socio-economic impacts caused
by the conversion of mangrove forest in Ujung Alang village, Kampung Laut. This
research method is a survey by means of quantitative analysis and qualitative
descriptive data combined with secondary data and primary data in the form of
interviews.
To identify the characteristics of mangrove conversion using land use map
overlay method in the period 1998-2009. To determine the relationship between the
conversion of mangroves and fisheries production using Pearson correlation test
and to determine differences in the amount of revenue, the amount of the catch and
the diversity of the catch before and after damage was used different test (T-test).
The results of this study are : (a) is happened a reduction in mangrove forest area
in Segara Anakan, in the period 1998-2003 and 2003-2009 with decreased in 2009
only stayed 6546.10 hectares from 7.152,17 hectares in 1998 (b) there is significant
correlation with the value of 0.039 and 0.26 correlation between the strength of the
relationship with the conversion of mangrove forests and fisheries production in the
Ujung Alang village is average, and (c) there is significant differences between
respondents' income in the Ujung Alang village before damage and after damage to
the mangrove forest significance equal to 0 at 99% level
