description The high mobility of people from Semarang to Solo, or vice versa, is the reason of construction of Toll Road Semarang - Solo by the government. Toll Road Semarang - Solo Section VI , Lemah Ireng-Bawen, passes through clayshale soil that has mechanical properties such as shear strength reduction. To handle this problem contractor changed the slope of trapping and consequently it requires land acquisition that have an impact on the cost and time requirements. This study aims to provide suggestions clayshale slopes handling by providing surface treatment so that land acquisition does not need to be done. Slope is maintained at 1H: 2V and surface treatment uses masonry walls (lining). Numerical analysis was performed to determine the initial slope stability and slope stability by lining a surface treatment. Modeling slope with a decrease in shear strength was conducted to determine the stability of the slope after the exposure of water, air, and sunlig. Analysis was performed on stationing 22 +500 by using PLAXIS software version 8.6 and Slope / W 2004. Output from a numerical analysis are safety factors and total displacements every stage of excavation. Safety factors obtained on the slopes with a decrease in shear strength design has a value of 0,848 on the design parameter and 0,257 on the residual parameter. While the initial slope and slope modeling by lining has a value 1,137 on the initial slopes and 1,357 on the slopes with the lining. So it can be said that initial slope is stable or secure and can withstand lining load. Slope with earthquake load modeling shows that the slopes strongly resist earthquake loads left direction but not right direction. For the longterm safety, it needs further research regarding the handling of the slope with earthquake loads.
