Summary: | This research is performed related to the importance of Official Development
Assistance (ODA) from Japan to the ASEAN governments. Therefore, its is
important to have knoledge of role of the factors effect Japan`s decision in giving
ODA to ASEAN countries.
This research has an aim to analyze effect of National Income, Debt Service
Ratio, Corruption Perception Index and import of ASEAN from Japan toward ODA
from Japan to ASEAN countries in 2007-2010. The instrument of analysis used is the
regression of panel data by the Fixed Effect Model.
The result of this research shows that National Income, Corruption
Perception Index of ASEAN, and import of ASEAN from Japan have significant
and positive effect towards ODA from Japan. While, Debt Service Ratio does not
have any effect. Therefore, the ASEAN governments need to consider some
effort to be able to guarantee repayment of ODA from Japan. One of them is
strengthening of economiy by increasing National Income and fixing the
management system of ODA, reflected in getting larger of number of Corruption
Perception Index. Besides that, the hypothesis on the positive effect of ASEAN
import from Japan toward ODA indicates that increasing ODA from Japan
considers the involvement of ASEAN in providing fund by Japan, which is,
furthermore, used to give the ODA to ASEAN governments. Therefore, the
ASEAN governments need to improve their trading cooperation with Japan.
