Summary: | The objectives of this study are : (1) to understand the revenue and profitability of
seaweed farming in Brebes District, (2) to understand the contribution of seaweed farming
on total household income of fish farmers, (3) to understand the poverty and prosperity
level of households, and (4) to understand the amount of added value of seaweed
processing into paper gelatin. This study was conducted in Brebes Subdistricst, Brebes
District. The primary method for this study is descriptive analysis. The sampling method
used in this study is random sampling with a sample of 25 fish farmers. Data analysis is
performed by revenue analysis, profitability analysis, added value analysis, and criteria
indicator from Sayogyo, BPS Brebes, World Bank, FAO, and GSR. The result shows that
fish farmers earn income from seaweed farming per year amounted to Rp 20.205.820 with
average profit per year for Rp 13.245.327. Income from seaweed farming contributes
36,61% on total household income of fish farmers as the largest revenue share. The results
of analysis also show that the fish farmers are not classified as poor but relatively more
prosperous. Added value of seaweed manufacturing home industry into paper gelatin is Rp
10.425/kg.
