Cultural Autonomy as a self-government arrangement for Sami People. This
paper examines Sami�s historical, demographic, and geographical background as
well as other factors such as Sami demand for freedom and equality (domestic
factor) and international factors. It is also examines the implication of the
Cultural Autonomy towards Sami People as indigenous people, as well as Finnish
people as a majority. Such a special arrangement kike Cultural autonomy, off
course, could cause polemics within the overall society. We could see how
different interest cold be the greatest obstacle in accommodating indigenous
peoples� rights and how the government and the society in general deal with it. |
