Summary: | The high price and energy consumption of the cooling device or refrigerator
are complicating people living in rural areas. Hence, cooling device thats
practical, inexpensive, and energy efficient are needed.
There are many variant of simple refrigerator which have been made, such
as Abba model refrigerator and Emily model refrigerator. In this experiment, It
use Emily model refrigerator which is being modificated by using mortar as
construction material for outer pot and functioned as dispenser.
Testing equipment is done in 2 stages. In the first stage of water in the
dispenser was not given special treatment while in the second phase, of the water
dispenser, water was taken as much as 200 mL every 1 hour interval.
Measurements were made with an instrument called a thermometer data logger
that will measure the temperature of the water in the dispenser and water in the
open space at every 10 minutes interval. Obtained in the first experiment, the
average temperature difference in the water dispenser and water at open space is
0.970 C and in the second experiment the average temperature difference of 0.860
C is obtained. From the results of the temperature difference on the both trial, the
amount of heat gained by 21.59 kJ on first trial and the second trial amounted to
19.14 kJ.
