| description | This research was aimed to identify poverty level in degraded and not degraded
land area, to analyze factors influencing poverty, to examine land conservation effort of
farmers, and to analyze the impact of land degradation and poverty on land conservation
efforts. The data was drawn from a sample of 120 farmers in 6 villages in upstream,
middle and downstream area and each area divided into degraded and not degraded land
at Keduang Sub Watershed on May-June 2013. The poverty criteria of Sayogyo, BPS
Wonogiri, World Bank, ADB and FAO are used to identify the poverty level. The
binary logistic regression is employed to analyze the factors influencing poverty. The
land conservation effort is measured by conservation activity index (IKK) and analyzed
using t-test and ordinary least square method. The result showed that average on farm
income in degraded land area is lower than not degraded land area, poverty level in
degraded land area also higher than not degraded land area. The factors influencing
poverty level are acreage, household burden dependency ratio, livestock asset, jewelry
asset and loan ownership. The land conservation effort of farmers in Keduang Sub
Watershed are high, and poverty and land degradation do not have any impact on land
conservation effort. |
