Summary: | Management of change for oil and gas company�s facilities are the most
important aspect the company shall pay attention to. The facilities Management of
Change (MOC) is directly impact to the security and safety of the workforce.
Chevron as the biggest crude oil producer in Indonesia does not give any
tolerance to the failure in the implementation of management of change. The
failure in managing the process of management of change means increasing in the
risk factor of safety. Zero accident is the target to achieve. Zero is Attainable.
Most of the time, the managing of management of change only pay
attention to soft factors such as Goals, Leadership, Focus, Process, Reward
System and the use of Consultant (Beer, 2000). While the hard factors such as
Duration of change, Integrity, Commitment and Effort are neglected. This is the
reasons why two out of three transformation initiatives fail. (Sirkin, 2000),
including what happened at Chevron.
Analysis has been done for Chevron by deploying Porter�s Five Forces
analysis, SWOT and DICE analysis. Those analyses show the competitive
advantage of Chevron as well as the strength and weaknesses of the management
of change process and recommendation for improvement. The weaknesses in the
process of management of change can be improved based on DICE analysis and
optimized as new competitive advantage for the Chevron.
