description | Maleic anhydride is made by an oxidation of benzene in gas phase with Vanadium Pentaoxide (V2O5) catalyst inside fixed bed multitube reactor. The reaction occurs at 3500C-4000C and 20 atm condition. Reaction is highly exotermic, so it is important to keep the temperature value using dowtherm A as a cooler. Product is separated using absorber tower with dibutyl phthalate as a solvent. After that maleic anhydride as a product is purified in distillation column until the purity reaches 99.5%. This plant is designed at 28,000 ton per year capacity. Benzene’s requirements is 33,249.4224 ton/year while V2O5 is 36.2 ton/year. This plant is expected to be built in Cilacap, Central Java with 4 Ha area and 160 employees. Utilities component required by the plant are 637.412 kg/hour water from Serayu River, 8573.7 kW electricity and 11.106.142,75 litre per year. From economic evaluation calculation the value of fixed cost is US$ 23,796,908.25 + Rp 99,279,984,053.64 , manufacturing cost is US$ 41,593,587.10 + Rp 167,224,146,099.08 , working capital is US$ 8,107,837,386.62 + Rp 16,523,399.28 , general expense is US$ 54,590,914.06 + Rp 189,770,213,523.67 , profit before tax is Rp 74,911,559,892.86, profit after tax Rp. 37,455,779,946.43. ROI before tax 23.90 % , ROI after tax 11.95 %. POT before tax 2.95 years, POT after tax 4.56 years. BEP is 58.84 % of capacity, SDP is 30.27 % of capacity, dan DCF is 31.76 %. Based on economic evaluation above, maleic anhydride plant from benzene with 28.000 ton capacity per year is potential enough to be studied further. |
