| Summary: | The aim of this study explains how the process of political recruitment candidates who do PDI-P ahead of the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the City of Magelang 2010. Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle in recruiting political candidates, always prioritize or prioritize cadres to be nominated in both the legislative and executive elections. In direct local elections that began in 2005 through 2010, PDI-P has guidelines that regulate the mechanisms of political recruitment candidates. These guidelines are set by executing instructions (Guidelines) on the procedures for the election of regional heads of the PDI-P. Party policies contained therein also explained the party cadres consideration as a candidate for Mayor and Deputy Mayor to take into consideration the results of the legislative elections in each region.
This research uses descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The data obtained through primary data source and secondary data, as well as techniques of data collection through interviews and documentation. Results of this study indicate that Ir.H. Sigit Widyonindito which is not the PDI-P cadres, has been established through Rakercabsus (specially Branch Meeting) and to the recommendation of the PDI-P as a candidate for mayor. As Deputy Mayor, Deputy chairman of the PDI-P period 2005-2010, which is Joko Prasetyo PDI-P cadres defined officially as a candidate for deputy mayor by the PDI-P. This is because the policy of the party at the end of the process which has been on going candidasy. This policy would lead to internal conflict PDI-P Magelang. In addition, the policy interest of facilitating the entry of several elite PDI-P, both at regional and central utilizing their internal conflicts. Elite interests behind the candidates is the effort had the support of the party. Thus recruitment of candidates that took place in the PDI-P is inclusive in the process, but centralized in decision making, because the authority of the center.
